Welcome to SDBCC

A partnership of USD Computer Science, USD Sanford School of Medicine, and SDSMT Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

__This partnership brings together medicine, computer science, and humanities to build a transdisciplinary network for medical and clinical education and an academic platform that integrates computation and AI with cutting-edge technologies and humanities.__

The $6.5 million in congressionally directed spending was secured by South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds in 2024 and is funded through the Department of Education. In addition, the South Dakota Board of Regents provided approximately $750,000 in seed funding to USD in 2023 to support biomedical computation research and development. The goal of SDBCC is to develop computational and AI resources and tools for biomedical science, medical, and clinic education, allowing healthcare professionals to take advantage of these resources.
